A fuller account of who I am and how I think, beyond the front page.

Where I'm from
Moving around a lot when I was young meant I grew up among very different places, cultures, and people. I'm grateful for it. It's probably the single biggest reason I'm curious about almost everything.
Trying things
Keeping things interesting and trying new things is my favorite way to live. Even when I'm not successful at what I try, I still get satisfaction from having at least tried. For example, after a memorable jazz concert with a friend, I was motivated to try out the trumpet. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my neighbors) I only got as far as making a couple off-tune notes coming out. Even though I didn't end up continuing it, the process of trial and error, whether or not it works out, is a gratification like no other.
What I'm into
This site is a gallery of sorts for the interests I care about most. It used to be a portfolio for my photographs, but I've grown further apart, and my philosophy has changed on why I take photographs.
Amateur radio is one of my more recent interests, and it's quickly become my favorite. It has incredible depth and so much to learn, and is constantly changing. The reproducibility, community, and variety are what keep me on my toes, hunting for the next best setup.
How I work
I mostly enjoy working in solitude with music on. Nothing motivates me more than a perfectly curated playlist and something to get done. While some prefer silence in solitude, I love the chaos and dynamics that music adds. It helps me think of unique ways of solving problems, and even helps with memorization.
People
That said, I always enjoy meeting new people, and I can find a topic to talk about with just about anyone. My social battery is unpredictable and can swing widely, but I answer emails as soon as I can.
